background paper—comments requested

The North East State Foresters Association is leading a 10-year anniversary look at the work of the Northern Forest Lands Council (NFLC). The introductory sections of the background paper (link below) fully explain the history of the NFLC work and the NEFA process. NEFA is encouraging interested parties to comment on the background paper produced for this 10-year look (see link below) and asks that comments be sent to nefatrees@aol.com (preferably before September 7, 2004 but comments after that date will still be accepted). Specifically, NEFA would like you to comment, answering the following questions:

1. Are there any errors in the background paper? If so, what are they?
2. Is there new/additional information that would strengthen the paper? If so what and what are the sources of this information?
3. Based on this information (or other information that can be cited), of the 37 recommendations of the NFLC report Finding Common Ground, which are still relevant? (Note: The NFLC report can be found at northernforestlands.org).
